Parents entrust their children with us because our own children attend Guard Up programs… as such, we are very safety conscious, our staff training and background checking is intensive, and our programs are designed to be both engaging and educational.
Our programs integrate the latest in child and teen development research. You can find out more about some of the elements in our programs by reading the Guard Up! Family Swordsmanship Blog.
All of our camps and after school programs are fully licensed by the state of Massachusetts. Our annual inspection results are impressive and we encourage you to contact the Burlington Board of Health regarding our record.
Mission: The Guard Up After School Program helps children become well rounded and well balanced individuals, embrace learning as an exciting and lifelong endeavor, and become self confident, responsible, and optimistic through creative play. We accomplish this by “Unplugging” kids from the computer and motivating them to exercise and make friends in person, educating children in a manner that is exciting and imaginative… where exploration and possibilities are endless, and by providing an environment where a child’s actions have consequences and where their decisions can make a difference.
Philosophy: We have two mottos at the Guard Up After School Program… one guides our creative process… the other guides our operational methods. Our motto for the first is “Honor, Compassion, Courage”. These are the three attributes we want our Adventurers to explore as they are what defines the term “Hero” in our Adventures. The second, and most important motto, is “Safety, Fun, Educational”. These are our “3RO” (three rules of operation). Every adventure, activity and interaction that our kids experience must incorporate these three rules, in order of priority.
All Adventures involve physically interactive, light contact sparring with foam weapons that have been tested to be extremely safe and all sparring is done under the supervision of qualified staff members. Each session is from 9am to 3pm everyday, so be sure to pack a lunch and a snack (doors open at 8:30am for parents who need to get to work early). There are a limited number of single day openings. As well, we may have some openings for Extended Day which allow for pick up as late as 6:00pm.
While at our facility, your children will spend the day physically and mentally challenged while opening their imagination to the experience of being a warrior of History (or Myth-ory)!
Special: School Break attendees get our “Return Camper Discount” for our Day and Overnight Summer Camps.
As a convenience for parents, we provide transportation from various locations to our facility each morning for School Breaks.
Call (781) 270-4800 or contact us for more information. But hurry, the number of spaces are limited per age group for each session. To register, log in or create an account at www.guardup.net, select the event and submit payment. Make sure you call to confirm reception of the forms so that you are guaranteed a place.
Guard Up has been running these safe programs since 2002. Contact us for more information about Guard Up programs or to have your kid try a FREE sword class before enrolling in an adventure.
Please note: These programs involve physical contact/striking with foam-covered swords.
